Entertainment & Nightlife in Luxembourg

Luxembourg has a lively nightlife with lots of nightspots, pubs, dance clubs, bars, discothèques & cinemas offering excitement & entertainment. A copy of La Semaine à Luxembourg (The Week in Luxembourg) from Tourist Information Office at Place d'Armes will give you a list of hotspots in the city.

Opening hours are fairly inconsistent, but bars usually stay open till around 1am and clubs till 3am. While you're out, try one of the local pilsener ales such as Mousel or the tasty Bofferding brews, which are the most widely available. Good bars include the funky Chiggeri, Rue du Nord 11, which attracts a lively, youthful crowd to its groovy Old Town premises. For a slightly older crowd, try the Café des Artistes, Montée du Grund 2, a charming café-bar close to the bridge in Grund with piano entertainmnet and Luxembourg sing-alongs. For clubs, there's Didjeridoo, Rue Bouillon 31, Hollerich, a boisterous club west of the train station offering a wide range of sounds (Wed, Fri & Sat).

Two lively, youthful, interesting pubs in the old city are Um Piquet, Rue de la Poste 30 and Club 5, 5 Rue Chimay, a trendy bar with a good upstairs eatery. Down in the valley, Grund is blessed with several good pubs: Scott's, 4 Bisserwée, which serves Guinness and English Ale to a mostly expatriate crowd; Trader's Café, 9 Bisserwée, a popular watering hole across the street from Scott's, in an atmospheric old building; Pygmalion, 19 Rue de la Tour Jacob, a typical Irish pub; and Malou, 57 Rue de la Tour Jacob, a popular hangout for both locals and visitors.
